Afghan Girl
Happy that I took this opportunity and invited Edyta to take some photographs together. Thank you Girl. :-)
I followed my standard ideas with the location that is in a way standard too. What is not standard is the subject, Edyta, the time, my state of being and hers. She contributed in a beautiful way to the results and somehow put me into the ‘Afghan Gir’ direction.
Focus was on black and white, but the camera, the Q3 was set in raw, so the idea to produce the color version was an option too.
I don’t like pristine approach to photography and pristine results, I go by intuition and pretty fast with the edit process. I do edit though, mostly play with shadows and lights, especially important in B&W. The color is in general less forgiving, and bearing in mind my wild, reckless attitude, more challenging in edit. To choose the proper color is not an easy task.
One article came at hand when I searched for good preset. It is written by Pietro Di Stefanis, for which I thank him. It led me to preset done by Alex Ruskman, simulating beloved Kodachrome 64. The kodak film was used broadly by professionals of the era, where a National Geographic portrait of a little girl with beautiful eyes once was presented, done by Steve. We all know it :-) and admire it.
The idea for the title ‘Afghan Girl’ which is simply borrowed from that famous portrait, came later, during my search for preset. It was after the photo shoot.
Here is the article which will lead you to this preset and all others as you wish.
